Privacy Policy — Receipt Wallet

This Privacy Policy explains what information Receipt Wallet ("the App", "we", "us") collects, how it's used, and where it's stored. Receipt Wallet is a receipt/invoice scanning and expense-tracking tool — most of what it stores lives only on your device.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 No account required

The App does not require you to create an account, and does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal identifier to use its core features.

1.2 Receipts, invoices, and expense records

When you scan or import a receipt or invoice, the App stores the photo and the extracted details (vendor, date, amounts, category, line items) on your device. This data is used to build your expense dashboard and Excel exports.

1.3 Invoices you generate, and client information

If you use the App to create invoices to send to your own clients, the client details you enter (name, email, address) and your business profile (name, email, address) are stored on your device and used to fill in the invoice PDF. We don't collect or see this information ourselves.

1.4 Device identifier

The App generates a random identifier for your installation and sends it to our server so it can enforce the free-tier monthly scan limit. This identifier is not linked to your name, email, or Apple/Google account, and resets if you reinstall the App.

1.5 Purchase information

If you subscribe to Receipt Wallet Pro, that transaction is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we do not process payments ourselves, and we do not receive or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.).

2. How Receipt Scanning Works (AI Extraction)

When you scan a receipt or invoice, the photo is sent to our server, which forwards it to Google's Gemini API to read the vendor, amounts, date, and line items. The extracted result is sent back to your device.

We do not keep a copy of your scanned images on our server. The photo is processed to extract its data and is not stored afterward. Google's processing of the image while extracting that data is governed by Google's own privacy policy (linked below).

3. Where Your Data Lives

Your scanned receipts, expense records, generated invoices, saved clients, and business profile are stored only on your device — we don't operate a server-side account or database of your financial records. This also means:

If you delete the App or lose your device, this data is gone unless you've exported it (via the Excel export feature) beforehand.
We have no way to access, recover, or delete this data on your behalf, because we never had a copy of it.

4. Face ID / Touch ID (App Lock)

If you turn on App Lock in Settings, unlocking the App is handled entirely by your device's own operating system (Apple Face ID/Touch ID, or Android's equivalent biometric APIs). Your biometric data never leaves your device, and we never see or store it.

5. How We Use Information

Information the App collects is used for exactly one purpose: providing the App's features to you (scanning, organizing, exporting, and invoicing). We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising — the App does not display ads.

7. Your Choices

Camera/Photo permission: can be revoked anytime in your device's Settings, though the App won't be able to scan or import receipts without it.
App Lock: optional, toggled off by default; can be turned on or off anytime in Settings.
Deleting your data: delete individual records in the App, or uninstall the App to remove everything at once — since it's all stored locally, there is no server-side copy for us to separately delete.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
