These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and the developer of Lie Detector ("we", "us", "Developer") governing your use of the Lie Detector mobile application ("App").
By accessing or using the App, you represent and warrant that:
- You have read and understood these Terms in their entirety
- You are at least 13 years of age (or older if required by applicable law)
- You have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
- You agree to comply with all applicable local, national, and international laws
- Your use of the App will be for lawful, personal, and entertainment purposes only

Lie Detector is a social entertainment app designed for fun among friends and family. It is NOT a scientifically validated polygraph, lie detection tool, or psychological assessment instrument of any kind.
Scientific Accuracy Disclaimer
- The App's facial expression and voice analysis algorithms are NOT scientifically validated lie detection methods
- Research has consistently shown that no facial expression or voice analysis system can reliably detect deception with accuracy significantly better than chance
- The scores and verdicts produced by the App (e.g., "Probably Lying", "Definitely Truth") are entertainment outputs and have no scientific basis
- Results include intentional random elements to make the App more unpredictable and fun
- The App should NEVER be used as evidence or basis for any real-world accusation, decision, or judgment
No Professional Advice
The App does not provide and should not be construed as providing psychological, legal, medical, or any other professional advice. Any information or output from the App is for entertainment purposes only and should not be relied upon for any purpose beyond casual social fun.
Accuracy of Results
The App's results are influenced by lighting conditions, camera angle, device capability, ambient noise, speech recognition accuracy, and intentional randomness built into the scoring algorithm. The same person answering the same question twice may receive completely different results. This is by design.
No Warranty
The App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without any warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
03 — Eligibility
Eligibility & Age Requirements
The App is intended for users aged 13 years and older. Users in certain jurisdictions may be subject to higher minimum age requirements.
- Users under 13 years of age are not permitted to use the App
- Users aged 13–17 should use the App with parental supervision
- Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring appropriate use by minors
- Some content categories (Spicy, Relationships) may be more appropriate for adult users
- By using the App you confirm you meet the age requirements in your jurisdiction
If we become aware that a user under the applicable minimum age is using the App, we reserve the right to restrict access. However, since no registration is required, parental oversight is the primary safeguard.
04 — License
License to Use
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to:
- Download and install the App on devices you own or control
- Use the App for personal, non-commercial entertainment purposes
- Access the features and content within the App as intended
This License Does NOT Permit You To:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the App or its content
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Sublicense, sell, rent, or transfer the App or your rights to it
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
- Use the App to create competing products or services
- Use automated tools to access or scrape App content
05 — Prohibited Uses
Prohibited Uses
You agree not to use the App in any of the following ways:
Harmful & Illegal Uses
- Using App results to make real accusations of dishonesty against any person
- Presenting App results as evidence in any legal, professional, or personal dispute
- Using the App to harass, bully, humiliate, or psychologically harm any individual
- Recording or distributing sessions of other people without their informed consent
- Using the App in any context that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Using App results to discriminate against any person based on any characteristic
Technical Abuse
- Attempting to circumvent or disable any security features
- Attempting to access, modify, or interfere with the App's source code
- Using the App in a manner that could damage, overload, or impair its functionality
- Attempting to bypass in-app purchase requirements through unauthorized means
Content & Privacy
- Scanning individuals without their full knowledge and voluntary consent
- Using the App on minors without appropriate parental consent and supervision
- Sharing session results in ways designed to publicly shame or embarrass individuals
06 — App Features
App Features & Functionality
Multiplayer Mode
In Multiplayer Mode, one user asks a question via voice and another user answers while the camera scans their face. Both users must consent to participate in any scan session.
Solo Mode
In Solo Mode, the App uses text-to-speech to ask pre-defined questions which the user then answers. The user is scanning themselves and has implicitly consented.
Session History
Session results are stored locally on your device. You have full control to view and delete this data at any time through the App's Settings menu.
Consent Requirement: You are responsible for obtaining the informed, voluntary consent of any person you scan using this App. Scanning someone without their knowledge or consent may violate their privacy rights and applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
Service Availability
We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation of the App. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature or the entire App at any time with or without notice.
07 — Purchases
In-App Purchases
Remove Ads Purchase
The App offers a single non-consumable in-app purchase to remove all advertisements. Key terms:
- This is a one-time, permanent purchase — no recurring charges or subscriptions
- The purchase removes banner and interstitial advertisements from the App
- Payment is processed by Apple App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android)
- We do not collect or store any payment information
- The purchase can be restored on any device using the same platform account
- The purchase is non-refundable except where required by applicable law
Refunds
All refund requests must be submitted directly to Apple App Store or Google Play Store according to their respective refund policies. We do not have the ability to process refunds directly and cannot override platform refund decisions.
Purchase Restoration
If you have previously purchased Remove Ads and reinstall the App or switch devices, you can restore your purchase through Settings → Restore Purchases. You will not be charged again.
Price Changes
We reserve the right to change the price of in-app purchases at any time. Price changes will not affect purchases already completed.
08 — Advertising
Advertising Terms
The free version of the App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. By using the free version of the App, you agree to the display of these advertisements.
- Advertisements are served by Google AdMob and are subject to Google's terms of service
- We do not control the specific content of advertisements displayed
- We are not responsible for the products, services, or content advertised
- Clicking on advertisements will direct you to third-party websites or apps governed by their own terms
- Advertisements are displayed on the Home screen and between scan sessions
- No advertisements are displayed during active scan sessions
You can permanently remove all advertisements by purchasing the Remove Ads in-app purchase as described in Section 7.
09 — Intellectual Property
Intellectual Property
The App and all its content, features, and functionality are owned by the Developer and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Our Intellectual Property Includes:
- The App's source code, algorithms, and software architecture
- User interface design, graphics, and visual elements
- The Lie Detector name, logo, and branding
- Pre-defined question content across all categories
- Sound effects and audio elements
- App Store listings, screenshots, and promotional materials
Third-Party Intellectual Property
- Google ML Kit — owned by Google LLC, used under license
- Google AdMob — owned by Google LLC, used under license
- Flutter framework — owned by Google LLC, used under open-source license
- App Store and Google Play trademarks are property of Apple Inc. and Google LLC respectively
Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property rights to you. Your license to use the App is strictly as described in Section 4.
10 — Liability
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer shall not be liable for any of the following:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, revenue, data, business, or goodwill
- Any damages arising from reliance on App results for real-world decisions
- Any damages resulting from disputes between users based on App results
- Any damages from unauthorized access to or alteration of your data
- Any damages from third-party content, including advertisements
- Any damages from App downtime, errors, or feature unavailability
- Any emotional distress or reputational harm arising from App use
Our total liability to you for all claims arising from or relating to the App shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or €10 EUR, whichever is greater. In most cases, since the App is free, our liability is effectively zero.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted by law.
11 — Indemnification
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the Developer, its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with:
- Your use of the App in violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any applicable laws or regulations
- Your scanning of individuals without their consent
- Any accusations, disputes, or harm caused by relying on App results
- Your infringement of any third-party intellectual property rights
- Any content you create, share, or distribute using the App
12 — Termination
Termination
These Terms remain in effect until terminated. Either party may terminate this agreement at any time.
Termination by You
You may terminate these Terms at any time by uninstalling the App and deleting all copies from your devices. Uninstalling the App will also delete all locally stored session data.
Termination by Us
We reserve the right to restrict or terminate your access to the App at any time if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. Since the App does not require registration, termination primarily takes the form of App removal from app stores.
Effect of Termination
- Your license to use the App terminates immediately
- All locally stored data is deleted upon App uninstallation
- Sections covering disclaimer, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law survive termination
- In-app purchases are non-refundable upon termination for cause
13 — Governing Law
Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Spain, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
Dispute Resolution
- Informal Resolution: Before pursuing formal action, you agree to contact us at the email below to attempt informal resolution of any dispute
- Mediation: If informal resolution fails, disputes may be submitted to mediation before a mutually agreed mediator
- Jurisdiction: Any legal action shall be brought exclusively in the courts of Spain
- EU Consumer Rights: Nothing in these Terms limits your rights as a consumer under applicable EU consumer protection law
- Online Dispute Resolution: EU residents may use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr
Class Action Waiver
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted on an individual basis and not as a class or representative action.
14 — Updates
Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will:
- Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document
- Provide in-app notification for significant changes where feasible
- Post the updated Terms at the same URL
Your continued use of the App after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using the App.
We recommend checking these Terms periodically. Material changes that reduce your rights or significantly expand your obligations will be communicated as prominently as reasonably possible.
