Privacy Policy — Universal TV Remote

This Privacy Policy explains what information Universal TV Remote ("the App", "we", "us") collects, how it's used, and what stays on your device. We built this app to control your smart TV over your own home network — most of what it does never leaves your phone.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you don't have to give us

The App does not require you to create an account, and does not ask for your name, email address, or any other personal identifier to use its core features.

1.2 Local network information

To find and control TVs on your Wi-Fi network, the App discovers and stores information such as:

TV device names, brands, and local IP addresses
Pairing tokens/certificates issued by your TV when you connect it (so you don't have to re-pair every time)

This information is stored only on your device. It is never uploaded to, or stored on, any server we operate. If you delete the App, this data is deleted with it.

1.3 Purchase information

If you purchase an ad-removal subscription or lifetime unlock, that transaction is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play — we do not process payments ourselves, and we do not receive or store your payment details (card numbers, billing address, etc.). Apple/Google may share limited transaction data with us (such as whether a purchase is active) so the App can unlock ad-free access on your device.

1.4 Advertising data

The App shows ads through Google AdMob to support free use of the App. AdMob and its partners may collect device identifiers (such as your device's advertising ID) and use them to serve and measure ads, including personalized ads where permitted. This collection is governed by Google's own privacy policy, linked below. You can limit ad personalization through your device's privacy settings (see Section 4).

2. How We Use Information

Whatever local network and pairing information the App stores is used for exactly one purpose: letting you control your TV. We do not use it for analytics, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the App on your device.

4. Your Choices

Local network permission: the App asks for local network access (iOS) to discover TVs. You can revoke this anytime in Settings → Privacy → Local Network, though the App won't be able to find or control TVs without it.
Ad personalization: you can limit ad tracking via Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking (iOS) or your Google Ads Settings (Android).
Deleting your data: since paired-TV data lives only on your device, uninstalling the App removes it completely. There is no server-side account or data for us to delete on your behalf.

5. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Effective" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
